Postgraduate / Ôl-raddedig

Congratulations on achieving a place on a postgraduate programme at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Dear PG Music Student,

CONGRATULATIONS ON ACHIEVING A PLACE ON A POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMME AT THE ROYAL WELSH COLLEGE OF MUSIC AND DRAMA.

Dear PG Music Student,

We are looking forward to welcoming you to the College in a few weeks – I hope you are feeling excited about the new challenges that lie ahead. This is a brief message to give you an outline of what to expect at the start of term. Fuller details will follow from other departments in College, and in September, you will be able to start the online registration process, which will give you access to the College’s Hub (home of general information) and ASIMUT (timetabling software).

Supporting information

I am posting here sets of documents with further information about your studies, basing these on the model for the two-year MMus pathway – if you are undertaking the Intensive MMus or the PG Dip in Advanced Professional Practice and you would like more information, please email me directly to discuss your programmes. If you are an Opera School student, information is available from James Southall, Music Director of the Seligman Opera School or Hannah Noone for Opera Directors.

The documents contain information on the different modules in the MMus course, the structure of the programmes and a timeline of delivery and assessments across the academic year.

Induction activities

In the first week of term, from Monday 23rd to Friday 27th September, you will be occupied with an Induction programme for postgraduates from all College departments, as well as having a chance to meet key departmental staff (including me!). It will be a mix of online and in person sessions, exploring a range of key issues, introducing our working practices and College ethos. Please note that 1:1 lessons should not be scheduled against these induction activities.

On the first day of term there will be the opportunity to meet your Head of Department as a group. Full details of where and when will be found in your ASIMUT schedules, once they are released.

Enjoy your Summer! Please do get in touch by email; Zoe.Smith@rwcmd.ac.uk if you have a specific query not answered in the supporting information. I may be away from the office, but I will try to respond in a reasonable timeframe. I am very much looking forward to working with you very soon and I send you best wishes for safe arrival in Cardiff.
